APALACHIN, NY -- Moth Night: Friday July 27th (Rain date: July 28th) at 8:30 PM
Come join us for the 1st annual Moth Night at Waterman Center, 403 Hilton Road, Apalachin, in celebration of National Moth Week (www.nationalmothweek.org) and learn about our local moths. On Friday, July 27 (rain date July 28), lights and sheets will be set up starting at 8:30 PM in hopes of attracting our local moths for photographic purposes. If new moths continue to visit, the set-up will remain until midnight. The building will be open. Educational materials will be available and Colleen Wolpert, who is a moth enthusiast, will be here to answer questions. Plan to buy the new moth guide through the Waterman Center store and support more programs like this.
Wear dark clothing and a hat to discourage moths from mistaking you for the sheet. Avoid bug sprays and open-toed shoes. Bring a camera. Cost is $3 for members, $4 for non-members and $1 for children accompanied by an adult.
Call Waterman Center at 625-2221 for more information. Registration encouraged due to rain date issues, but not required.
