James Richard Nauta, 74

"If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again …"

Surrounded by his family, James Richard Nauta, 74, of Warren Center, Pa. went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012. Dick, as he was lovingly known by his family and friends, was born on Feb. 15, 1938 in Morristown, N.J., a son of Edith E. and the late Peter Nauta. He was a veteran of the US Army and served his country from 1961-1964. On June 28, 1958 he married Jean Hoekendorf and together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Dick treasured his time spent with his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and traveling.

He leaves his wife Jean; his children Christopher (Becky) Nauta, JanetSue Nauta Russell, Charles Surine; his mother Edith Nauta; brothers and sisters-in-law Ron (Marie) Nauta, Bob (Lin) Nauta, Leon (Marcia) Nauta, Dale (Kathy) Nauta; sister-in-law Loretta Nauta; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Peter and Josie Hoekendorf. Several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Dick was predeceased by his father Peter Nauta and brother Peter W. Nauta.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 at the Dille Parish United Church of Christ, LeRaysville, Pa. A memorial service and celebration of Dick's life will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tom Burlington and his son Pastor Christopher Nauta, officiating.
