John O. "Jack" Way, 84, of Sugar Run, passed away on Friday, Aug. 10, 2012 at the Robert Packer Hospital with his loving family at his side.
"Poverty Hollow" in Hollenback will be missing one hard working man. John "Jack" Way is heading for a much needed rest after working hard for his family and friends. Whenever he was asked his birthday he would just smile. He was born April 1, 1928.
Everyone will remember Jack's gruff tone and kind heart.
Jack was born in Sugar Run, son of the late James Vincent Way and Fedora Sutton Way.
He spent 57 wonderful years on the family farm with his wife Lucretia Huffman Way. Lucretia and Jack's dog Lily continues to keep the home fire burning.
Those having learned where there's a will – there's a "Way" are his son, Richard Way Sr. of Alba; his daughters, Jackie and Wayne Bogovich of Silver Spring, Md. and Esther and Thomas Potts of Wyalusing.
Those believing he could fix anything are his eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His surviving angels are his sisters and brothers-in-law, Joanne and Pete Puterbaugh of Friendsville and Linda and Dan Puterbaugh of Rome; a sister-in-law, Louise Way of Wyalusing; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilmot. He enjoyed farming, hunting, refinishing furniture. In his younger days he also enjoyed polka and square dancing. He loved family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by brothers, George Way, James Way and Stanley Way; sisters Grace Bell, Florence Hauck, Viola Irvin, Alfretta Bloom, Marian Knapp, Margaret Kunzman, Beulah Stevens and Elsie Harmic, Esther Dyer McCarty, and Bernice Thomas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 1 Grovedale Lane, Wyalusing. Interment will be in Wyalusing Cemetery, Wyalusing. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 12 and from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home.
