Ronald Allyn DeWolf Sr., 75
8/23/2012 10:15:00 AM
During the early morning hours of Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, Ronald Allyn DeWolf Sr. of Athens passed away quietly at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. He was 75 years of age. Born in Sayre on May 2, 1937 and raised in the Towanda area, he was the son of Lyman and Ethel DeWolf. Ron graduated Towanda High School with the Class of 1955, after which he enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps. After returning to civilian life he was employed at the Sylvania plant in Towanda for several years. He also worked at a side venture, a scrap yard on Plank Road, which he owned with his brother-in-law, Craig Carl. After retiring from Sylvania, Ron worked for PennDOT as a truck driver and snow plow operator. He also volunteered many hours with the Salvation Army. In his free time Ron enjoyed fishing, and being with friends and family. His great sense of humor could bring a smile to any face, and he could take it as well as dish it out. No matter what wisecrack was leveled at him, Ron took it all in stride and never was offended.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Murch) DeWolf, at home; son Giles David (Pamela) DeWolf of Wysox; daughter Ronda (Larry) Kimball of Columbia Cross Roads; brother Roger (Artis) DeWolf of New Albany; brother-in-law Gerald Murch (Patty Mai); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Corona. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty (Orshal) DeWolf, son Ronald A. DeWolf, jr., sister Leota Carl and brother-in-law Craig Carl.

Funeral services will be celebrated at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 12 noon at the Ark of The Covenant Church, Brocktown Road, Monroeton with Pastor Paul Benjamin officiating. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church. Professional services have been entrusted to Morse & Kleese Funeral Home, 94 N. Center Street, Canton.
