James Terwilleger, 84, of Canton, was called home to his heavenly reward on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from Danville's Geisinger Medical Center.
James Asa Terwilleger was born on Dec. 28, 1927 at the family home in Granville. He was the only child of the late Asa and Ella Jane (Porter) Terwilleger. Married on July 15, 1950, Jim and his wife the former Esther Mingos, shared 62 wonderful years together. His faith in Christ guided him through life and he was an active member of the East Canton United Methodist Church. Always supportive and devoted to his family, Jim will be remembered for his soft-spoken and kind nature. He was blessed with a strong work ethic and was a "jack of all trades" type. In early years, Jim sold eggs and enjoyed dairy farming. He worked for many years as a machinist for Canton's Bellows Valvair Co. and also stripped and refinished furniture. Surviving are his wife Esther; two children, Rosemary Fewtrell of Florida and Michael Terwilleger of Washington; grandchildren, Jimmy and William Winebarger both of Florida; many special friends and neighbors.
His family invites friends to call 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at Pepper Funeral Home, 578 Springbrook Dr. in Canton. His pastor, Rev. Dianne Bentley, will officiate the funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park.
