Robert E. Dewing, 86, of Warren Center, passed away on Monday evening, Sept. 17, 2012. Bob is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Martha Abell Dewing; his children: Ronald (Georgie) Dewing, Rodney (Susan) Dewing, Donald (Teleka) Dewing, Barbara (Jim) Pavlik, Ann (Bob) Elliott and Dale (Joan) Dewing; a brother and sister-in-law Russell and Ruth Dewing, Sr; sister Carol Darling; sister-in-law: Grace Dewing, sister-in-law Mary Dewing; grandchildren Ellen (David) Altland, Beth Dewing, Patricia Dewing, Randy (Joy) Dewing, Brett Dewing, Micah (Michelle) Dewing, Adam (Jennifer) Dewing, Benjamin (Ashley) Dewing, Andrew ( Tiffany) Pavlik, Erin (Corey) Hagerman, Stephen Pavlik, Michael (Tara) Elliott, Amy Elliot, Stacy Elliot, Nicolas, Megan, Kylie and Lydia Dewing; great grandchildren Chase, Jonah, Hope, Mason, JessieLee, Maacah, Grace, Isaac, Malachi, Nathaniel, Damaris, Caleb, Tavaris, Gypsee and Karmann; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Bob was predeceased by his brothers Paul and Max Dewing, and a sister Betty (Norman) Darling.

Bob was born on Sept. 19, 1925 in Warren Township, a son of the late George Albert and Gladys Dewing. He was a graduate of Warren Center School and attended Vestal High School. On Oct. 9, 1947, he married Martha Abell and together they celebrated nearly sixty-five years of marriage. For many years, Bob was employed in sales for Newing Equipment in Vestal and Endicott. He was a member of the Community Bible Church in Little Meadows, served as Scout Master for the Boy Scout Troop 77, enjoyed watching the Yankees.

His greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation and time of sharing memories from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main Street, Nichols. Funeral services and a celebration of Bob's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Community Bible Church, Little Meadows with his son, Rev. Donald Dewing and Pastor Dale Anscheutz, officiating.
