Susan Renninger, 69
10/3/2012 9:32:00 AM
Susan Renninger, 69, succumbed to a long term battle with cancer on Oct. 1, in her Chestnut Hills home in Towanda.

Born Susan Marie Mohila in Pottsville, she attended Pottsville High School, where she was co-captain of the Bull Dogs Flag Twirling Corps. Referred to as "Susie," she was voted by her many high school friends to be the most likely to dance her way through life.

Susan was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her love of playing games with her grandchildren and her remarkable generosity towards all at Christmas.

Her passions were all about the home, complete with a maternal insistence that there would always be an overabundance of home-cooked food on the table, true to the Slovak-Polish tradition. Most especially, she helped everyone she knew care for their home and loved spending time doing gardening and other yard work.

Preceded in death by her sister, Mary Shapella, Susan is survived by her sister Lucille, wife of Carl "Skip" Brown, Pottstown; sons Harold J. Renninger, III and wife, Rose, Ulster, Kevin P. Renninger and wife, Karen, Allentown, and Kyle D. Renninger and wife, Shannon, East Smithfield; grandchildren Brandon, Krysta, Logan, Levi, Justine, Emma and Chelsey Renninger; great grandchildren Trevor, Carter and Holly Renninger; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Susan's final resting place will be alongside her mother, Catherine Mohila, in the Charles Baber Cemetery on Market Street in Pottsville, just a short walk from her childhood home. Funeral services for her immediate family will be held in Pottsville in the spring.

Her family wishes heartfelt thanks to all of her friends, neighbors, volunteers at Meals-on-Wheels, caregivers at Guardian Home Care, nursing support from the Towanda Memorial Hospital Hospice, and the faithful at Towanda's Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church — all of whom brought sunshine and comfort into her home on a daily basis during her final months.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Ss. Peter & Paul Parish, 106 Third St Towanda, PA 18848 or Towanda Memorial Hospital Hospice, 91 Hospital Drive, Towanda, PA 18848. The Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home of Towanda is assisting the Renninger Family with arrangements.
